REF: MAGLEV trains: Actually, I didn't misunderstand anything. I was just as surprised as you with what he presented. I have his powerpoint slides (although they are in the office right now). The time was about an hour/hour and a half and the speed of the train was 500+ KPH. He also commented that Japanese law states that 40m below the ground is public domain, so in essence, they can go underneath "everything" and not have to worry about buying land/easements/etc. Pretty incredible/hard to believe, isn't it? If you're really interested, I can scan those slides and send them to you.
